Working Out While Traveling

When you are home, you are in the groove. You have your routine. You have the time set aside. You have the schedule at your gym. Then you travel. It somehow all goes out the window. There is so much to do in a new place, working out is the last thing on most people’s mind. I’m here to change that mentality. It’s super easy and doesn’t take up that much time, promise!

I’m a carry on type of traveler, so I always try to skip the bulk. I always check in advance what is available in terms of a hotel gym and equipment included. Hotel gym will usually have basic weights, a few cardio machines and mats to use as you wish. What if they don’t have a gym? No problem! I’ll go through some of my favorite in room options.

Resistance bands! This is hands down the easiest way to get a workout in with one piece of tiny equipment that can fit in your pocket! Tone It Up offers so many great, easy & quick workouts on their mobile app. You can type in “booty bands” and voila!

I do a lot of travel for business so I’m usually walking all over meeting halls or exhibit floors extremely stressed out. I try to start my day off with a stretch and a quick 20 minute workout to get my blood flowing. A fellow TIU girl gave me this foldable yoga mat when she was my secret santa a couple years back. It has been a lifesaver! Easy to fold and put in my suitcase and much more comfortable than a hotel towel - do not ever just workout on those floors!

If you are traveling for leisure, combine exploring and working out! I always search for a bike tour of a new city! Carve out 2 hours of your day and pack in a fun exciting tour of the destination and get some great cardio in at the same time. The tour guides are locals with tons of experience and recommendations.
