The first week in December both Miami Beach and Downtown Miami get an influx of creatives and artists from all over the world!
There are a a few large shows that span hundreds of booths. Untitled & Scope Miami are both located on Miami Beach, literally massive pop up tents on the sandy beach. The area is transformed and you can walk down aisles of booths and speak directly to artists. Over the bridge you can see Red Dot/ Spectrum in the heart of Wynwood. A new large show I went to in Miami were Nada & Context. They had more contemporary art mixed with avant garde.
On Miami Beach you can find the “No Vacancy” Series that includes pop ups in many of the local hotels along Collins and Ocean Ave. The lobby’s are transformed into mini art galleries you can explore on your way to a larger show or a meal at one of the many establishments.
My two favorite shows every year are mid size shows on Miami Beach. Both Aqua & INK Miami take over hotels and have galleries in hotel rooms. It is such a fun and intimate vibe. The Dorchester Hotel houses INK Miami and is where the famous “Banana taped to a wall” was exhibited in 2019.
